TurfTiles
Installation Instructions
1. Once you decide on the location for your TurfTiles
putting green and open the boxes, estimated assembly
time is perhaps 30 seconds per tile. A TurfKit-12
could be easily laid in less than a half-hour.
2. Each TurfTile is square, 50 cm x 50 cm (about 19
5/8? x 19 5/8?). A TurfKit-8 is typically set up 1 tile
wide by 7 long joined together, 0.5m x 3.5m (1.6?x11.5?),
with the eighth tile set along side at the distance
from the hole desired. The TurfKit-12 is commonly set
2 tiles by 6 tiles, 1.0m x 3.0m (3.3?x9.8?) but could
be arranged 3 tiles by 4 tiles or 1 tile by 12 tiles.
And you could purchase additional chipping or putting
tiles to expand your green at will.
3. Observe the appearance of the turf surface. Like
a mown green there is a slight direction to the grass
which is more seen than felt. For the most uniform appearance
orient all TurfTiles in the same direction.
4. The dogbone shaped connectors are inserted into round
holes on the bottom side on the two leading edges of
the first tile, which is typically laid in the upper-left
corner of the planned green.
5. The next tile with connectors on the two leading
edges is snapped down over the exposed connectors on
the right side of the first tile. At this point you
will have two tiles linked together, each having connectors
exposed on the lower edge and the second tile having
connectors exposed also on the right edge.
6. Continue adding tiles left-to right, leaving the
right-most tile with no connectors on the exposed right
edge unless you plan to add the tapered ramps for that
?finished? appearance.
7. Start a second row below the first and continue until
the area is complete.
8. Snap the long chipping turf tiles on last to ensure
that the long grass is not caught between the tiles.
9. For irregular areas the outer edges of the tiles
could be trimmed with a saw. A medium fine blade in
a band saw works well, as does a hand hacksaw. Rotary
cutters are OK if the speed and feed are controlled
to get a clean cut.
